Built in 1991 by Mike Goodman, this is a 1971 MGB GT that has been converted into a convertible... pickup truck. Because why not, I guess? The price is $22,000 OBO, which is a bit pricey, but the MGB appears to be pristine. As pristine as an MGB converted into a truck can be, anyway. A bulkhead was installed behind the the front seats and the rear seat and trunk area has been converted into a lined and carpeted bed, covered by a second tonn eau cover extending from the back of the seats.
On the inside, it is blue. Very blue:
Here’s what the bed looks like sans tonneau cover:
The engine was treated to a full rebuild, and given earlier twin SU carburetors, electronic ignition, and a custom exhaust among other things.
The icing on the cake? All the electronics were replaced with new ones, thus eliminating one of the MGB’s most infamous problems. It’s only been driven 8,428 miles since the rebuild, so there’s that as well. Still, with all that going for it, it still costs 22 grand. So what do you think? NPOCP?

You just beat me to it! I was just coming here to post about this very weird, very cool little ute. I’d say $22k is a bit high but it’s unique and being unique is very highly valued so it’s probably not full CP.

That bed is a few boat cushions and a seat belt away from a rumble seat

And I hear Mike Goodman is significant in the world of MGB’s, so I guess maybe that has something to do with the price? Yeah, I agree the price is a bit high, but at least for the money it is in really good shape.

True... I bet kids would love to ride in a cushion-filled open trunk...

To me it looks like it’s begging to be a mobile hot tub.

Weird. Most MGs I see have the Open Air Foot Ventilation system

Pricey, sez I. If it hadn’t had the Sawsall taken to it, maybe.

That is wrong.

It was built to set a world record for world’s fastest hot tub... and it did, topping out at 50 mph! Not bad for a land yacht full of water. It’s also road legal, if I remember correctly, and a lot of interesting engineering went into building it.
